Privacy Policy

Last updated March 16th, 2022

*The following applies to all information collected through our website and/or any related services, sales, marketing or events (we refer to them collectively in this privacy policy as “Services”).

When you visit our website and use our Services, you trust us with your personal information. Privacy is important, and we take that seriously. This page is here, so you always know what data we collect and how it’s used.

WHO WE ARE

Royal LaKill Inc (“We,” “Us,” or “Our”) is a marketing agency that specializes in three key areas of small business marketing; Content Strategy, Social Media Management and Graphic Design.

THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

The information we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and our Services—the choices you make and the products or features you use.

Some non-identifying information is collected automatically when individuals (“Patrons”) visit our website or engage with us on Social Media.

This may include device and usage information, like your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services and other technical information.

This information is primarily needed to maintain and improve our Services using internal analytics and reporting.

We do not collect information that personally identifies individuals except when that information is voluntarily provided by users (“Clients”) who have registered with us to use our Services.

Name and Contact Info

Collecting contact information like your first and last name, email address, postal address or phone number is sometimes necessary to respond to your requests to learn more about our Services or to register for our Services.

If you have opted into receiving our newsletter, your contact information may be stored in a distribution list with an email marketing service like MailChimp or Mailerlite.

If you are an active Client, we will store your contact information in a physical address book and a third-party CRM system. Only your direct point of contact, the CEO and the COO will have access to your contact information.

*NOTE: We are a Canadian business that adheres to Canada Anti-spam Legislation (CASL). We will not send commercial electronic messages before obtaining your consent.

When communicating with you we consider proof of consent to be:

  • Completing and submitting forms embedded on our website to receive newsletters or request more information
  • Donating to crowdfunding campaigns we operate
  • Having an existing business relationship with us as a Client

Credentials and Payment Info

We often collect passwords, password hints, and similar security information to authenticate accounts and protect Clients from losing access to our Services.

Collecting payment data is necessary to process your payment if you make purchases with us. This may include credit card numbers and the security codes associated with your payment.

Credit card data may be stored by Stripe and/or the bank you use to make and receive payments. However, we do not collect this information on our end to ensure your safety.

For more about how payments are processed and stored refer to Payment Options.

Comments and User Profiles

When a Patron leaves a comment on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the Patron’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

The comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely unless edited by the user or removed by a site admin. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (although they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

🍪Cookies 🍪

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no Personal Data. When you close your browser this cookie will be deleted.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no Personal Data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

Any information we collect from you will be used in one of the following ways;

  • To personalize your experience, i.e., your information will help us design better site navigation for your devices;

WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the Patron has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

Information you provide will not be sold or made available to a third party without your consent. If you are a Client, your personal information may be shared with trusted third parties who assist us in conducting business or providing our Services, so long as those parties agree to keep your data confidential.

This site uses Google Analytics and may collect non-personally identifiable information when you visit. Google Analytics is not configured to transmit any personally identifiable information.

Information can include your:

  • Browser (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer);
  • Operating system, (e.g., Windows Vista or Mac OS);
  • Device and brand, (e.g., Apple iPhone).

We reserve the right to perform statistical analyses of user behaviour and characteristics, to measure interest in various sections of this site to improve design, navigation and to gather marketing information.

HOW LONG YOUR INFORMATION IS STORED

How long we retain your data

Our retention periods will vary depending on the type of data involved. Generally, we’ll retain Personal Data when:

  • We have an ongoing legitimate business or legal need to do so;
  • The data is necessary to provide our Services;
  • Our clients have the ability to access and delete the data;
  • Our Clients and Patrons would reasonably expect that we would retain the data until they remove it or until their accounts are closed or terminated.

When the data we collect does not match this criterium, we will delete or anonymize it. If deletion or anonymization is not possible (for example, because your Personal Data has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your Personal Data and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the Personal Data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any Personal Data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Changes to this policy

Services may change from time to time. As a result, it may be necessary to make changes to this Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time.

Please review this policy periodically, and especially before you provide any Personal Data. Your continued use of the site and Services after any changes or revisions to this Privacy Policy will indicate your agreement with the terms of the revised Privacy Policy.
